Commissioning an Artwork

It's easy! Follow these guidelines...

Guidelines for Commissioning a Portrait

4 Simple Stages

1) Choose your photo

I can paint portraits from a photo.

The better the quality of photograph, then the better the finished painting will be. Photographs should be clear, in focus with the subject occupying the majority of the frame. Photographs showing subjects in the distance aren't usually good enough to work from. I am happy to advise you on the suitability of your photos before you make any commitment.

I am able to work from printed photos or photos sent to me via email. If you are sending digital images, please send them in a jpeg format at the highest resolution.

2) Choose your size

Paintings are usually rectangular or square, either large scale or a series of smaller works. They can be any size from 8 x 6 inch/21 x 15 cm up to 4 x 6 ft/ 122 x 183 cm or even larger!

Prices are determined by size. For details and guideline prices please follow this link.

If you require resin glazes this will be charged as extra.

The commissioning process is managed throughout so you can be sure things will move along smoothly and you will receive regular updates.

3) Choose your colour and fabric

Paintings can be commissioned in any colour scheme. These may simply be your favourite colours or chosen to complement your d├ęcor.

The paintings are usually made upon textiles. I can use fabrics selected to match wallpaper or soft furnishings and will liaise with you to find the perfect fabric choice.

4) Pay your Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of total is due at outset of commission to cover cost of materials.

The remaining 50% is due upon completion of the painting.

I will work closely with you and will create the painting according to your requirements.

Back in my studio, I will develop ideas using your colours, images and fabric choices. I will then contact you for approval.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. You will be consulted throughout the entire painting process and will receive regular progress reports.

Studio production times are usually 8-16 weeks with delivery dates agreed to meet your deadline.

Paintings can be made in any size to suit your requirements. Prices will alter accordingly.

Prices do not include framing or delivery.
